Ravish Me With Your Majesty by Tina Johndrow

Driving to work this morning I was listening to a song (no clue who it is as the cd isn’t marked). One of the lines in the song was “ravish me with your majesty”. And I pondered what my life would have been like if I hadn’t been ravished by his presence. On 12/24/1986, I met the presence of a very real God. Its funny because I wasn’t thinking I was going to meet him that night. I went to the meeting to get a friend off my back. She wouldn’t relent until I said I would go. But as I walked in, all my senses shut down except for my spirit man. That is the only way I can describe it. As my physical being hit the floor, I was unable to move. But in truth, I really didn’t want to. I just wanted to stay there – ravished by His majesty. Song of Songs 4:9 says “You have ravished my heart, My sister, my spouse; You have ravished my heart with one look of your eyes, with one link of your necklace”. There are many definitions for the word ravished. My favorite is to be overcome with emotion (as joy or delight). Don’t for a minute think God is a being without emotion or that emotion is somehow less spiritual. I heard a good friend describe her transition of thought in which she thought it sacrilege that Jesus would laugh. He does laugh. We are made in the image of God. If we have emotions, why wouldn’t He? I pray that we are ravished with His majesty today!
