Be who you are and be free. Be yourself. by Tina Johndrow

Romans 8:1-2 in the Message says “With the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, that fateful dilemma is resolved. Those who enter into Christ’s being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death”.

When that came up on the Bible program on my phone, I had to read it several times before I recognized what it said. Sin and death are brutal tyranny if you don’t know you have been freed by the Spirit of life in Christ. I am free but choose to not use my freedom to hurt or disrespect others. I have often pondered the Pharisaical attitude that we humans get when we have a new revelation and want others to have it as well. I can remember when the “river movement” came out. I didn’t have the same manifestations as others and they would often remark that I needed to get free of the bondage of religiosity. Inside I felt like I was back in school, trying to fit in to the “in” group. Only this time, I chose what was right for me and chose to not “go with the crowd”. There wasn’t anything wrong with the manifestations. What was wrong was their rejection of what they thought was religion. They backed so far out of “religion” that they came full circle and became Pharisaical.

Be who you are and be free. Be yourself.
